Description
The atmosphere that I am intertwind in at PAL is relaxed and joyfull. All the kids are just filled with lots of energy. Everyone there is easy-going, and willing to help. Every time I go in to volunteer in the game room, this little boy named Donte always wants to play foosball. The game is either very hard or the little kid is very good, cause he beats me everytime. The game is very difficult mainly because the players have limited movement and you have to move fast. The first one to ten is the winner, and i never seemed to make it.

metaphor
The excitement of the children in the game room can be compared to a zoo. The children are everywhere, all types and all ages. Touching everything in there way. Some cant help but stop and ask me lots of questions: others play games like pool, foosball, and even games on the computer. Yet the excitement on the playground can be decribed as an out of control zoo, kids are running around everywhere like they where free from confinement. Just like the animals of a zoo would if they were free'd, filled with joy and excitement.

cause and effect
I was tought a great lesson of cause and effect in my volunteering of the PAL center. As I became more involved in the volunteering at the PAL center, I realized how important this organization is to the community. Many of the youth in the local community comes to the PAL center daily to play in the game room. One day as I was in the game room monitoring the children play, one of them asked if I would like to play foosball. So I thought sure why not I can take it easy on this kid and play a couple games to pass time. Well little did I know but the kid was tricking me, he told me he sucked and to take it easy, but that was a trap. The little kid ended up killing me at 3-0, and telling his buddies of his victory. So after that day I realized not to under estimate the ability of the little kids.

Advocacy
leadership is a quality required for a positive functioning community. It also shows intelligents in individuals and is a major quality that PAL adresses. As I am submerged in the volunteering atmosphere of PAL I see first hand how The Police Athletic League demonstrates leadership. Every week end PAL host a sporting event, ranging from basketball to football. Theses events provide the youth to not only stay active but also learn leadership skills while working with a team to achieve a common goal. All of what PAL emphasizes to the youth as important attributes are usefully in being successful in the real world.

My First Impression
As I parked my truck in the PAL parking lot, I couldn't help but notice the giant logo of the Police Athletic League on the side of their white gymnasium. The second i cut the engine of my truck off i was approached with the sound of kids in a playgound playing. I followed the sidewalk around and seen that in the back yard of the gymnasium there was a full size football field and track. So i continued through the blue doors of the gym to come across a basketball team practicing and a middle aged lady who was standing there like she expected me.
As I approached to converstate with the employee she greated me and asked how she can help. I annouced my needs and we came to the conclusion that it would be of more convience if i can back later in the week due to a holiday events that the PAL league holds for all holidays for the youth annually. So I gave my regards and departed from the PAL center with a good impression of how volunteering for them will be.
